Embracing Continuous Learning for Organizational Resilience

In a world where technology evolves faster than ever, organizations face a constant challenge: how do we keep our people learning, adapting, and thriving? At MVP Dagen 2025, I explored this question through a powerful lens — the idea of an ecosystem for knowledge sharing and building. I wanted to show how learning, culture, and technology can come together to create resilient, future-ready organizations.

Why Learning Matters More Than Ever

As I mentioned early in my talk competence today builds security and resilience for tomorrow. Learning isn’t just about training sessions or e-learning modules; it’s about cultivating an environment where knowledge flows freely and continuously.

I quoted Seymour Papert, one of the pioneers of artificial intelligence:

You can’t teach people everything they need to know. The best you can do is position them where they can find what they need to know when they need to know it.”
Seymour Papert

💡🧠That’s the essence of modern learning; it is not by static instruction, it is by dynamic discovery.

From Fragmented Learning to Continuous Growth

Many organizations still treat learning as a one-time event; a course, a workshop, a certification. What I have seen in many organizations is that learning is fragmented. Employees are overwhelmed by tools, systems, and processes, leaving little time for structured development.

The solution? Continuous learning.
Ongoing, contextual learning that happens as part of daily work, and not outside of it is the solution. This approach aligns with the 70-20-10 model:

  • 70% learning by doing,
  • 20% through collaboration,
  • 10% via formal education.

It’s about learning in the flow of work — through reflection, teamwork, and experimentation.

The Learning Ecosystem: People, Tools, and Culture

So, what exactly is a learning ecosystem?
Learning is a synergy between people, tools, processes, and a culture that makes learning accessible in context.

This illustration how this ecosystem connects:

  • Portals and intranets for access to knowledge,
  • Viva Learning and Learning Pathways for structured content,
  • Teams and Engage for collaboration,
  • Copilot for intelligent support,
  • and most importantly, a culture of sharing.

This ecosystem is not built overnight. It is cultivated through alignment between strategy, technology, and people. It thrives when organizations empower “Champions”, who are enthusiastic employees that drive learning and innovation across teams.

Digital Competence: The Foundation of Modern Learning

A key part of this ecosystem is digital competence. The EU’s DigComp Framework highlights how digital literacy, communication, safety, and problem-solving form the backbone of effective learning in the modern workplace.

I would encourage you to run surveys, using the five areas in the EU’s DigComp framework to ask questions that will help make you understand where employees are today, and then tailor learning journeys that help them “swim in the digital ocean”.

Copilot: The Engine of Exponential Learning

My vision is that Copilot is a learning accelerator.
Integrating AI into daily workflows transforms learning from a scheduled activity into a continuous process. Copilot provides real-time insights, suggestions, and support; helping employees learn while they work.

This integration creates an exponential effect on competence development — a true leap forward for organizational learning.

From Theory to Action

Building a learning ecosystem isn’t about adding more tools. It’s about connecting what already exists, aligning it with strategy, and empowering people to share and grow together.

Final Thoughts

I believe the future of learning is ecosystemic. It’s not about isolated training programs or one-size-fits-all courses. It’s about creating a living, breathing network where knowledge flows naturally — supported by technology, driven by culture, and powered by people.

In this ecosystem, learning becomes not just a task, it becomes a way of working — and that’s how organizations build resilience, innovation, and lasting success.

Inspired to start your own learning ecosystem?
Begin small. Identify your champions (remember they are a smart investment, not just another cost). Connect your tools. Encourage sharing.
And remember — learning isn’t a destination. It’s a journey we take together.
